Aston Martin DB9
The current Aston Martin design philosophy is epitomised by the DB9, a 2+2 seater, available as a coupe or a convertible, that is a combination of agility, V12 power, smoothness, beautiful design and hand craftsmanship. Using a radical new aluminium-bonded body frame, the DB9 is one of the most sophisticated and technically advanced sports cars in the world. It is powered by the latest version of Aston Martin's 6.0-litre V12, and comes with either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. The bonnet, roof and rear wings are aluminium. The front wings and bootlid are composite. Cast aluminium is used in the windscreen surround. Magnesium alloy, which is even lighter than aluminium, is used in the steering column assembly and inner door frames. The driveshaft is made from carbon fibre. And the interior is covered in leather. The DB9 achieves perfect 50:50 weight distribution, further improving handling. We got a chance to drive one, but Aston PR told us we were underage. Yes, this car is for old rich people to cruise the city in.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage
The V8 Vantage is a strict two-seater, with the rear environment offering a large luggage shelf area accessed by a tailgate. The long bonnet and two-seater cabin create an instantly recognisable stance. It looks pretty much like a DB9, and if we saw one on the street, we'd think it is a DB9. The designers at Aston Martin are getting lazy, but we don't know if we should complain about a cheaper car that looks like a DB9. The all-new engine is a 4.3-litre aluminium alloy V8, hand-built in Germany, where every Aston Martin engine is built, mated to a six-speed manual. Constructed from lightweight aluminium extrusions, precision castings and pressings, the underframe is bonded with aerospace adhesives and mechanically fixed with self-piercing rivets. The unique architecture provides an excellent backbone, while the use of materials such as lightweight alloys, magnesium and advanced composites for the body further contributes to the car's low weight and high rigidity. Offered with a combination of different leathers, contemporary fabrics and aluminium, V8 Vantage customers will have an extensive choice of standard body and trim colours from which to choose.
