Dodge Avenger
The new-for-2008 Avenger is a midsize sedan that
builds on the bold, aggressive styling and performance of the Dodge brand.
Offered only in SE and SXT in the Middle East, the front-wheel-drive Avenger is powered by
only a
2.4-litre 4-cylinder mated to a
4-speed automatic. The Avenger offers many unique features
including a chilled beverage storage called Chill Zone, housed in the
passenger side upper instrument panel with the ability to hold and chill as many
as four common beverage cans. Other features include a heated/cooled front cupholder, YES Essentials
stain-proof fabric, heated cloth seats, LED interior lighting in
both front and rear seats, MP3 play capability on all audio systems and MyGIG
information and entertainment system. Dual front, side and head-protection airbags are standard, but electronic stability control is
optional. This reskinned Chrysler is interesting, but obviously does not appeal
to traditional family car buyers.

Dodge Caliber
Dodge's new entry-level vehicle is a five-passenger hatchback that replaces the Neon sedan
and attempts to be a replacement for the common 4WD wagon too. It has a liftgate and split folding rear seats.
All trom levels use a 4-cylinder engine. The base model is a 1.8-litre with manual transmission, and the mid-grade model
is a 2.0-litre with CVT automatic. The top 2.4-litre is available with either manual or CVT. The 2.4 has sportier suspension tuning and unique trim. Available features include a fold-flat front passenger seat,
refrigerated glovebox, and removable cargo light/flashlight. Unique features include oddities such as flip-down speakers when
the liftgate is open, illuminated cup-holders and a central armrest that moves front and back.
Also available are leather upholstery, nine-speaker Boston Acoustics stereo and alloy wheels.
ABS is optional on the base models, and standard on the top trim, where it comes with rear disc brakes instead of drums.
A tyre pressure monitor is optional. All Calibers have available front airbags and side airbags.

Dodge Charger
Combining extreme power and a chop-top body, the all-new Dodge Charger delivers an experience like no other, except maybe for its sibling, the Chrysler 300C. Available with a 3.5-litre "High-Output" V6 engine, the infamous 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine,
or a hyper SRT-8 6.1-litre HEMI V8, the new Dodge Charger races into the local market with contemporary, provocative styling and substance with all the conveniences of a modern sedan. The
5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine comes with the Multi-Displacement System, also known as MDS, that seamlessly deactivates four cylinders in just 40 milliseconds when full V8 power is not needed, improving fuel economy by as much as 20 percent, though fuel economy is still far from impressive. Either engine is mated to a fully automatic five-speed transmission with AutoStick. In addition to the Charger's aggressive design, features include standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS brakes, all-speed traction control and optional DVD entertainment. A beefy and fun machine for sure, but we have yet to play with it.

Dodge Dakota
The Dakota is a mid-size pickup with a full-size attitude, as Dodge likes to brag, and they are not far from the truth. The Dakota is the largest pickup in its class and the only mid-size truck available with a V8. The Dakota looks big, thanks to a complete redesign recently, making it larger than before and making it look almost as big and tough as the full-size Dodge Ram. The standard engine is a 3.7-litre V6. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission. An optional four-speed automatic is available on the higher trim levels. A 4.7-litre V8 engine is available for all models. A "high-output" version of the 4.7-litre V8 is also available on the higher models. With either V8, a six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a five-speed automatic is optional. Two available transfer cases, either full-time or part-time, are available on the 4WD models. Available steering wheel mounted audio controls allow easy control of the standard AM/FM/Cassette radio or the optional AM/FM/CD radio with eight speakers.

Dodge Durango
The latest Durango has been redesigned, mostly with a minor
facelift, and it appears to be a well-built light duty 4WD capable of transporting seven people almost anywhere in very comfortable surroundings, even though it is ultimately one of the ugliest vehicles on the road. The only engine option available here is the 5.7-litre, Hemi V8, which helps the two-and-a-half ton Durango move off with reasonable verve. It's interior design conserves space, which permits a 3rd row of relatively accessible seating. It is obvious that parent company Mercedes-Benz has had an influence on the lowly Dodge. The seams are tight and the materials are of a high quality. The ergonomics work well too, with all the minor luxuries, including a good sound system and a rear seat DVD-entertainment system. Excellent sound insulation means passengers aren't too distracted by road or wind noise, while the 3rd row folds flat into the floor and the 2nd row folds up and out of way very easily. Standard features include air conditioning, power mirrors, illuminated entry lighting, front and rear power outlets, bucket seats, 40/20/40 folding second-row seat, AM/FM stereo radio with in-dash single-disc CD player, cruise control, tilting steering column, and remote keyless entry. Also available are rear climate controls, a power sunroof, AM/FM/6CD/MP3 player and a two-speed transfer case for off-roading.

Dodge Nitro
The new-for-2007 Nitro is somewhere between a compact and a
midsize in terms of size, but is actually based on the Jeep Cherokee, but
without low-range gearing. It is a useful wagon with room for five passengers,
innovative cargo features, and hit-and-miss styling.
Typically American in its outlook, the Austrian-built Nitro
comes across as a vehicle with attitude, though for this region, it is powered
by either a 3.7-litre V6 mated to a 4-speed automatic for the base model or, new
for 2008, a 4.0-litre V6 with a 5-speed for the R/T. The Nitro’s unique fold-flat first-row
passenger seat and usual fold-flat second-row seats offer a variety of loading options. Also new
is the “Load N Go” cargo floor, which slides half-a-metre rearwards for easy
loading and unloading, holding up to 181 kg when pulled out. With full power
features, 16-inch steel wheels, keyless entry, a CD entertainment system, and a long list of standard
safety and security features that include airbags, ABS brakes and more, the Dodge Nitro
offers value for money in the confusing yet competitive compact-to-midsize 4WD segment.

Dodge Ram
The Dodge Ram had been extensively re-engineered for 2006, with a minor restyling and an upgraded interior. It has a new hydroformed frame that's boxed its full length to provide more strength than in any previous model. New suspension and body mounts also improve ride and handling, though it is still no luxury sports sedan. Inside the Ram, the instrument panel, centre console and seats have been redesigned for more car-like comfort, while new entertainment features have been introduced. The standard motor for the Middle East is the 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine, which features the new Multi-Displacement System, a setup that shuts down four of the Hemi's eight cylinders when they are not needed. Dodge claims the switchover is seamless, and that fuel economy is improved by as much as 20 percent. Adding to the Hemi's responsive nature is a five-speed automatic transmission. The Ram comes standard with air conditioning, AM/FM/CD stereo, rear-wheel ABS, 17-inch wheels and a full-size spare tyre. Also available are power windows and door locks, keyless entry, an overhead console with mini-trip computer and compass, cruise control and larger aluminium wheels.
