The Gallardo is Lamborghini's smallest offering yet, and takes its name from a fighting bull or something. The cab-forward cockpit and mid-engine design are traditional Lamborghini, available as coupe or Spyder convertible, but the biggest deletion are upward-opening scissor doors like on the Murcielago and earlier Diablo, offering conventional doors instead. An Audi-derived 5.0-litre V10 engine with drive-by-wire throttle control sits behind the front seats, while the standard transmission is a six-speed manual. An optional E-gear sequential manual transmission features variable modes such as sport, automatic and low-traction. An active rear spoiler pops up at high speeds for aerodynamic stability. Safety features include front airbags and dual side head-and-thorax airbags, along with ABS and EBD, equipped with a front automatic brake differential and a rear differential equipped with a friction-type 45-per cent limited slip feature. The Gallardo offers 42/58 front/rear weight distribution, all-wheel-drive, 19-inch rims with low-profile tyres and massive Brembo disc brakes as standard.

Lamborghini Murcielago
The Murcielago, named after a famous matador, is the truest
of the current Lamborghinis, with traditional scissor doors and a massive
6.2-litre V12 engine sitting between the front and rear wheels. It was also the
first Lambo to be developed under new parent Audi, and is available in a hard-top coupe and a soft-top Roadster trim, while a special LP640
coupe model with a larger 6.5-litre V12 features a unique body kit and more power. Power is fed to the all-wheel-drive system through a standard six-speed manual or an optional E-gear sequential manual transmission on all versions. High-tech features include active spoilers and air intakes that adjust according to speed, while the suspension can be adjusted for ride height to clear bumpy roads. The Murcielago Roadster has a cut-down windscreen so overall height is 70 mm lower than the coupe. Standard features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, massive four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, air suspension and 18-inch alloy rims, while the Roadster has built-in rollover hoops.
