Lexus ES 350

The Lexus ES is all-new for 2007. With a new 3.5-litre engine, mated to a six-speed automatic, the Lexus ES 350 became a more powerful ride. Still, the Lexus ES 350 is a luxury sedan that wows with smoothness and quietness rather than handling and speed. This so-called entry-level luxury car is based on the Toyota Camry chassis, with upgraded body, equipment and interior. The front-wheel drive ES 350 does come with an impressive set of standard features that the Toyota Camry can only dream about. The Lexus ES 350 comes as one model, but the buyer can opt for a huge range of equipment. Available features include park assist, a power rear sunshade, ventilated front seats, a wood and leather trim package, and DVD navigation with backup camera. Optional equipment includes a navigation system, a 14-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system, Bluetooth wireless capability for cellphones, a panoramic glass roof, and radar-adaptive cruise control. Safety features that come standard on the ES 350 include dual front airbags, a knee airbag, side-impact airbags, curtain airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, also known as EBD, and a tyre-pressure monitor system.

Lexus GS 300 / GS 430

The Lexus GS is a showcase of the Japanese company's advanced technology. It was released in 2006, it's not only loaded with more gadgetry than ever, but offers a degree of luxury that matches the best from Germany. Lexus openly admits that the BMW 5-Series was their benchmark for the new rear-wheel-drive GS. The appeal of the GS line-up lies with a fully-equipped base model. The GS 300 has most of the available features from the GS 430, except of course for the larger engine. The GS 300 gets a 3.0-litre V6 while the the GS 430 gets a 4.3-litre V8, both paired with six-speed automatic with a sequential manual shift mode. Both engines lack the direct injection feature of American-spec versions apparently due to damaging high-sulphur petrol here, so power ratings are lower. The list of standard equipment includes leather-trimmed seats with front power adjustment, keyless entry, pushbutton starter, a premium sound system with both CD and DVD capability, Bluetooth wireless telephone technology, multiple airbags, various stability systems and a 7-inch multi-information touch screen. Options include DVD navigation, rear backup camera, moonroof, power rear sunshade, Mark Levinson audio system and adaptive front lighting.

Lexus IS 300

The Lexus IS is all-new for 2007 in the Middle East, although other markets have been getting 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre versions since 2006. The local market only gets a 3.0-litre V6 engine. The IS 300 offers the most sporting ride of the Lexus range, going head-to-head directly with the Germans in the enthusiast market. The rear-wheel drive IS comes with an impressive set of standard features that includes a premium sound system with CD auto-changer MP3 and WMA compatibility along with 13 speakers, power windows and front seats, keyless entry and start, cruise control, HID headlamps with auto-leveling system, and a fabric interior. The numerous options include a Mark Levinson premium surround sound system with DVD and 14 speakers, moonroof; ventilated front seats, navigation system, power rear window sunshade, auto wiper system, adaptive front-lighting system, rear view monitor system and park assist system. Safety features that come standard include dual front airbags, knee airbags, side-impact airbags, curtain airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS brakes, and electronic brake-force distribution.

Lexus LS 460

Lexus now has an all-new flagship luxury sedan that beats the best in the business, with features that include the world's first eight-speed automatic transmission, an air conditioning system that checks your body temperature to maintain the proper cabin temperature, and a system that automatically parks the car in a garage with the press of a button. This fourth-generation LS is powered by a new 4.6-litre V8 engine without direct injection, but mated to the new eight-speed automatic. Features include a completely redesigned multi-link suspension, a variable-ratio power-steering system, and an updated Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system. The cabin has all the customary Lexus luxury touches, including seats covered in one of four leathers to coordinate with three woodgrain trims. A power reclining seat equipped with power leg rests and massage is available for the right rear, along with a folding table. The LS also offers a nine-inch rear monitor mounted in the headliner along with a new 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system with an onboard hard drive that holds 4000 songs. It is available in regular-length and stretched-wheelbase versions.

Lexus LX 570

The new-for-2008 LX 570 now offers total comfort and luxury, while still offering outstanding off-road capability. Heavily based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, this new one at least gets a unique front end and a different interior. The Lexus version is powered by a new 5.7-litre V8 mated with a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The full-time all-wheel drive features a new 2-speed transfer case, Torsen centre differential and a new crawl-control feature when in low range. The LX has a vehicle "posture control" system with four-wheel active height control and adaptive variable suspension that reacts more quickly and allows for a greater range of adjustment than the system it replaces. Active safety features include stability control, ABS brakes and traction control, as well as multiple airbags. The plush interior is covered in leather and wood, with seating for at least seven, and features such as ventilated front seats, power-folding third-row seating, sunroof, navigation, Mark Levinson CD/DVD stereo, front-rear-side-view cameras and all the usual power accessories.

Lexus RX 350

The RX 350 rides like a car, and very easy to drive, with a luxurious interior. All this makes it popular with the upscale set, rather than its non-existent off-road ability. The RX is based on a unibody car platform rather than a heavy-duty truck frame. Redesigned for the 2004 model year, the RX gained a new 3.5-litre V6 engine for 2007, with very few other changes. The V6 in this all-wheel drive wagon is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The list of standard luxuries include automatic climate control, premium audio, cruise control, traction and stability control, automatic headlamps, ten-way power for both front seats, a power rear liftgate, parking sensors, Bluetooth phone system and 18-inch aluminium wheels. Cloth upholstery comes standard, as do high-intensity discharge headlamps. Options include leather upholstery, reverse parking camera and a one-touch moonroof. The sports package includes some sort of body add-ons and other nonsense. Safety features include dual frontal airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, ABS brakes and a stability system.

Lexus SC 430

The SC 430 switches from luxury hardtop coupe to open roadster at the touch of a button. Dropping the power hardtop turns it into a true convertible, but the SC is far from a sporting vehicle. Its exterior and interior were freshened for 2006. This rear-wheel drive car is powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engine mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission and soft comfort-biased suspension. It comes as one model that features a power retractable hardtop, soft leather with wood and chrome accents, a navigation system and a Mark Levinson audio with nine speakers, 6-CD changer, a/c system that auto-adjusts temperature for top-up and top-down, eight-way power adjustable front seats with memory function, power door mirrors, Bluetooth mobile phone, HID headlamps with adaptive front-lighting system and auto-leveling system, LED tail lamps, rear spoiler, front and rear corner sensors, and 18-inch aluminium wheels. Safety features include dual front & side airbags, whiplash injury lessening concept seats, ABS brakes with EBD and Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, traction control, and a tyre pressure warning system.
