Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD by Al Ghandi in Dubai wins MBC Driven contest

If you have a basic TV package like we do, the only channels you’ll watch are the MBC ones, especially the excellent MBC Action channel. While all their shows are U.S. ones, they tried their hand at making an Arabic car show called Driven, which seemed to be a mixture of the worst parts of Top Gear, Pimp My Ride, MTV and Sesame Street. That awesome show (so awesome that Car Middle East gave the host an award out of sheer infatuation) just had its season finale, and the only good thing to come out of it was the winner for the Battle Of The Garages competition, where four tuning outfits in the UAE set about modifying, of all things, 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD work trucks. Al Ghandi won that one.

For those keeping track, Al Ghandi is the Dubai dealer for Chevrolet, and apparently they have a tuning division that modifies six vehicles a month while claiming to keep it RTA-legal. The Al Ghandi Customs outfit competed with Liberty Motorsports, Chrome & Carbon and Basic.

The Al Ghandi Customs team raised the suspension by 18 cm, and fitted an air intake, muffler, larger alternator, two batteries, new front and rear bumpers, light bar, spotlights, aftermarket headlights, sump plate, electric bed cover and tailgate openers, leather with two electric rear single seats, 1500W stereo linked to underchassis and engine lighting that changes with the music, two 10-inch subwoofers, custom centre console with two cool boxes, iPad and Playstation with rear screens, and the obvious beret-wearing falcon paintjob.

The “Falcon” Silverado is on display for a limited period at the Al Ghandi showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

  1. I don’t remember which one I voted for. It was red had touch sense rear doors and yes a barbican inside. 😛

    • Though I loved all of it.

    • I have a honda accord sedan 2001 and I want to tune it up but the problem It needs money and I don’t have money iam from beirut lebanon iam I really really want to do this its my dream hope someone would help me iam in madina now work in MEA and hope someone can contact me 🙁 thank u I love KSA

  2. An ugly abomination, with excellent makeup is still an ugly abomination, now looking even more pointless and stupid. Why did they choose this truck, why not modify a nice sporty sedan. Nice Vinyls though. ;P

    • Lets just say its a promotion of how crazy and how far Chrome and Carbon can go..

& yeah that show on MBC Action was more sesame street than all the worst parts from top gear & pimp my ride combined..

  3. it’s ok, but looks like coming out of a comic book, about the mbc show “driven” it is truely the worst motor show i’ve ever seen until now, especially the hosts, one always frowning with sad expressions and imitating Afro-American hand gestures, the other acting like a child with wrong or frozen facial gestures, and the “top gear” audience are sleepy all the time. When I first saw the show announcement, I hoped that it would be an innovative show, but as all mbc shows just a fade imitation of western shows

  4. Wow, what a relief. I thought I was the only one who hated that show. Even though I knew it could never attain the high standards of Top Gear, I was very disappointed with the show’s painfully dull hosts.

  5. So… what’s changed in it? It won’t go any faster(probably slower), and it turns heads for all the wrong reasons…

If only they had some creativity and broadcast something which has to do with their traditional backgrounds, that would be an idea.

And the hosts >_< They think the sun shines out of their asses!

  6. ROFL.. Aint no sunshine..
