Chinese Chevrolet Sail 2011 spotted in UAE

While taking a walk around Sharjah I happened to spot this weird tiny car parked right next to an elegant Chevy Malibu wearing the same bowtie badge. A walk around it and the badges read a plain ‘Sail’. It was a manual variant with an interior as plain as the Empty Quarter; or maybe the Empty Quarter looked better. The front looks fine, rear looks ugly and the whole thing looked as if some revengeful dismissed ex-designer from Chevrolet had messed up with the Aveo design.

So what is this new Chevrolet Sail doing here in the Middle East? The Sail, a tiny Chinese GM product by roots, is basically an Opel Corsa in disguise. The Corsa is present the world over in so many different names, with so many different options and under so many different badges that we seriously have no track of it. We are not really sure as to how many markets receive this Corsa Sail; oh wait, that name combination exists in the Indian auto market!

Specifications of this Chevrolet Sail is unknown. There is no word from the dealer of a possible launch in the future. Or maybe someone from China just got it shipped to Dubai for some sort of weird exclusivity.

  1. Should say you have a sharp eye.

  2. my 3 year old cousin designed better cars than this!

  3. nice it will also head in UAE and India

  4. I hope it sails away from the UAE.

  5. I pity Chevrolet and GM even more when i see such cars.

These people are practically soo in deep s**t that almost 75% of their model ranges are now based on re-badged Daewoos, re-badged left over Opel chassis/engines and re-badged Holdens… The only real GM products they have left is the Corvette and their Truck which will not sell as much as their mainstream cars which are suffering from an identity crisis thats if not the evident shamelss cost cutting..
