Hyundai seems to have quietly launched the all-new 2012 Elantra in Oman, though their website has not yet been updated. The vehicle in these pictures was spotted when parked in front of a hotel located in a residential area of Sharjah known for its thriving used car market. The vehicle is registered in Oman and seemed to be some mid-option model with fog lamps. Oman has traditionally received new Hyundai and Kia models several months before the UAE, due to their massive popularity there.
The interior of the car could not be captured as the car windows were tinted. But from what could be seen, the interior seems interesting and rivals those found in the Honda Civic and the latest Fords. Exterior styling is simply outstanding. As evident from the pictures, the car just makes the current-generation Corolla parked next to it, look painfully outdated.
It is unknown as to when the new Elantra will hit local UAE dealers, although this Oman registered vehicle hints at availability soon. Those interested will have to wait and keep a watch on the nearest Hyundai showroom in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as even their salesforce do not know when the new model shall be available for sale.
