So we got a 2011 Dodge Durango Crew

The previous Dodge Durango was a dud on such a massive scale that it remained on showroom floors right up till 2010, even while production ended in 2008. That fullsize 4×4 is now dead, but its replacement, a stretched midsizer, might very well be among the best in its class.

Our tester is a V8-powered “Crew” version. Even as the cheapest V8 model, it is rather well-loaded. And it looks rather good.

The rear looks a lot like the Jeep Grand Cherokee from which it is derived, but make no mistake, the Durango is much longer and rides lower.

The interior is covered in soft-touch materials on all the upper areas, feeling much more premium than the plasticky Honda MR-V, GMC Acadia and Nissan Pathfinder, making it more of a competitor for the VW Touareg and the Volvo XC90.

The rear offers immense legroom, with many a/c vents, cup-holders and door pockets. Higher models likely get a DVD entertainment system.

The third row is easy enough to access and is pretty spacious too, with decent legroom for average-sized people and roof a/c vents.

The cargo area under the powered tailgate can hold a decent amount of groceries without putting down the third row.

The 2011 Dodge Durango seems to be the ideal minivan for those who don’t want a minivan, offering aggressive style, premium ambience and even a low-range gear should you get stuck in beach sand. Chrysler really has become the company to watch. More in the full review.

  1. I am waiting for the full reveiew on the charger .. Mash you seem to have your hands full.Would you like some help ??

Honestly I liked the car but the pricing is a tad too high then its actuals or they need to add more freebies to it.

  2. mash, any idea on pricing range for the durango?

    cheers, marc

  3. Nice. Seems everything is taken care off. Now, A proper pricing will put it bang on competitions head.

  4. The side view bit resemble to the Fortuner .. from the back looks like jeep. Front view is pure Dodge tag.

  5. prices are way higher each month, i don’t know why, last weekend i went to Al Futtaim and was shocked with the Jeep GS prices, they went up within two months and the salesman tried to convince me that the prices were the same all time,i clearly remember the GS mid range V6 was 132,900 now it is 159,000. i think for the Durango, it will be the same they start with 119,000 for the V6 and then will end up 150,000 two months from now. and the compulsory 20% down payment is not helping at all.

    • If they do like this then it will be flop, people will back for other midsizers, imagine you can get a Pajero loaded to teeth, with full offroad tools in 12Ok range

  6. So does this mean the economy is recovering?
I think not… maybe new management and new ideas?

  7. I attended the Dodge charger track test at Dubai autodrome, it was a nice experience, I will tel you more about it bcz now I’m very busy shifting my apratment, the charger is the only reasonably priced for now, grand cherokee and the durango are over priced especially for a company that is suffering and thinks about being competitive, any way, Mash, its been busy for you this period and we have been seeing a lot of “So We Got ….” postings for a long time now, but no detailed review came for a long time, were is the sportage, charger, and others, like GMC accadia denali and others I dont even remeber now, man, we check the website every few hours for updates, and it takes you weeks to give us one …..? do you need some help as ronnie said

    • did u like the v8?? i did not quite like it…interior same like v6…v6 is a good improvement, but v8 doesnt really feel like a v8..needed to be revved like nything and i still felt that a Jap v6 could catch up with it! handling is a massive improvement!…what do u think?

  8. 120k seems ok for V6 SUV… but the issue of resale and reliabilty is always there in a buyer;s mind.

  9. best strategy for the car is wait for 2 years and the first year models will still be in the showrooms and one pick up at a bargin price of 100k……………

  10. The rear brake lights looks somewhat like the GMC acadia from straight but back but with darker red……

  11. Samer ,thats exactly what I wanted to say.Is it just me or there was a bmw gran turismo ,kia sportage … and the list goes on for cars that we are waiting for the full reveiws.

Lots going on at once. Playing catch-up after going through the hassle of opening a company (and being illegal for a month while waiting for the visa processing!), but additional technical issues, slow-paying ad agencies, poor internet connection and getting a verbal beating from Mercedes’ PR person hasn’t exactly boosted my morale this year. The BMW long-termer was gone after just over 2 weeks, and they’ve left me hanging on whether they’ll give it back to me again.

  12. Is this capable of being driven on moderate desert flat sands, and in wadis?
