Ford Mustang GT, V6 and Boss 302 facelift for 2013

Ford Mustang GT, V6 and Boss 302 facelift for 2013

Those who’ve already put down a deposit for a 2012 Ford Mustang (like we almost did) will be in for a mild shock, as the value-packed muscle-car has received a GT500-inspired facelift for 2013, along with a few mild tweaks.

All Ford Mustang models get a new front-end with revised lower air intakes and a new splitter. HID headlights are now standard on all versions, while GT models get a new bonnet with functional air extractors as well as optional HID foglamps. New body-coloured side-skirts and rear lower bumper as well as new 17-inch, 18-inch and 19-inch wheels are also available. There is now a high-gloss black panel in the rear between the redesigned taillamps. The side mirrors have LED lamps in them that project the Mustang pony logo onto the ground when the doors are unlocked. New colours include new shades of green and blue. Recaro seats are optional. A Track App is also available in the gauge cluster LCD, showing acceleration and braking stats, while a touchscreen MyFord Touch system is also available.

Mechanically, the 305 hp 3.7-litre V6 remains the same, but the GT’s 5.0-litre V8 gets a minor upgrade to 420 hp as well as optional tiptronic functionality on automatic-equipped models. An optional GT Track Pack adds a Torsen differential from the Boss 302 and Brembo brakes on cars with the 3.73 axle and a manual transmission.

The Mustang Boss 302, which might become available in the Middle East by special order, receives some small tweaks in the form of stickers, paint colours and removable fog-lamp covers on the grille for better cooling when pushing the 444 hp 5.0-litre V8 engine.

The facelifted 2013 Ford Mustang range will debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, and will go on sale in the U.S. by early 2012, which means buyers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and other GCC countries may have to wait until after the summer.

Keep track of updates in the Ford Mustang buyer guide.

  1. This facelift is meant to bring more customers and to move more cars before the all new mustang for 2014 hits the markets, the 2014 mustang will mark the 50th anniversary and will be “All New”, it is even will feature independent rear suspension and ditch the live rear axel for the first time. so even if you didnt buy the 2012, dont go to the facelifted one, its just a matter of one year or so and the all new stang be revealed

  2. Good point Samer, I’ve been convincing myself to wait as much as I love the facelift.

  3. It might be a good idea to wait 2024 mustang. It will have even more features. ))))))))

    • When we say 2014, it means it will be released early 2013, now, 2011 almost finished, so it will be only 1 year of waiting, maybe you have too much money to burn so you can get this ‘facelifted” version in early 2012, then after 6-8 months the all new shape will be released, and and as soon as the new shape is released, your car will loose 20-30K of its value immediately, so it is up to you my friend

    • Ha, ha, ha, ha is the good one…!!

  4. OK Friends,

One. Any clue about 2014 shape ?
Two. Any clear picture from front for V6 version ?

Appreciated if some one can provide the same.

  5. You have a valid point Samer, I actually apply this mantra to all my purchases not just cars. Saves me a lot of money.

Now, i’m just hitchhiking to work and other places. Personal laptop I use is my brother’s. I’ve saved a lot of my money waiting to buy the perfect laptop since 1990.

    😀

Hehe. Yeah, wait for the all-new 2014 model with the existing engine. Then for 2015, they will release the same car with an upgraded engine. Then a facelift will come in 2016, knowing Ford.

  6. Tip-Tronic? bout time

  7. Hay you all here; I’m not expecting anybody to be hitchhiking, if you dont have a car and you like the current mustang, then of course I will tell you to go and buy it, but all of us have cars, so it will be ok to wait for a while to buy it, if you really care about cars then it means you follow up the news, and the news say that for the first time, Ford is joining all its design studio experts from all over the world like Europe, US, South America, and Australia for the design of next all new mustang because they want it to have global appeal and it must be iconic to mark the 50th anniversary of the car, with all that hype about that car, for me, I would rather wait and keep my car until the next shape is released, at least it is confirmed by ford that the next stang will not feature live rear axel for the first time. for the laptop man, laptops and phones and other things are all consumable items, we are talking about a car that worth 160-180K, so again, if you have money to burn, go and buy it, why should you bother with my opinion

  8. Umm the new mustang is coming in 2014 as a 2015 model. So yeah those waiting for it will have to wait for not one but 2 years. I’m trading in my ’11 5.0 for a the ’13 Shelby GT500 convertible this summer. 650hp, 600 lb/ft. 320+ kmph top speed. That is reason enough to get it.

    • Ummm, sorry to rain on your parade Jai, but the 650hp will not be coming out here in the middle east for the next coming seasons.

If you would check Al Tayer’s website, they have updated their Mustang page to 2012. Hence, we are a year behind our American counterpart. Unless of course you want to import it and face the nightmare of selling it US spec when you decide to upgrade your car again, then good for you.

I think that’s enough reason for you NOT to get it.

  9. Hi Everyone,
I need following information. My Registration is about to renew and now i want to add Racing Stripes on my car.

    1. What will be the procedure?
    2. And suggest my very nice place to get these racing stripes on car? (paint / stickers)
    3. Also suggest some place where i can change my seats cloth to leather stitched seats not cover.

if possible can you give me some sample photos.

    Thanks for the support.

  10. WHAT IS GOING ON ?

I mean, what is going on with the boys at the blue oval! They introduce the 5.0 in 2011 and then upgrade in 2013 to a shelby like Mustang GT and rumours have it that in 2014 there will be the 50th Anniversay upgrade which will be entirely different !!

Should we all stop buying until the Mustang designers don’t take a coffee break ???

    IQ

  11. What is the price of mustang 2013 V6???
