Ford Escape 2013 debuts at L.A. Auto Show

After slogging for years as the most outdated crossover in the compact segment, the Ford Escape has been completely redesigned for the 2013 model year.

Debuting at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2013 Ford Escape comes with a 168 hp 2.5-litre 4-cylinder as a base engine, with an all-new 173 hp 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder as well as a 237 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder available as options. All are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with a choice of front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive.

The 2013 Escape can be had with the latest version of the MyFord Touch infotainment system as well as an active park assist system that self-steers while parallel-parking, and a hands-free tailgate system that senses the feet and opens by itself.

Expect the new Escape to reach GCC shores by the end of next year.

Keep track of updates in the Ford Escape buyer guide.

  8. Looks like all these new crossovers namely Tucson, Sportage and now the Escape, are all inspired by Outlander…

  9. I think it’s redesigned Ford Kuga which is currently on sale in Russia

  10. It seems the exterior design trend for SUV’s are moving toward Cross-over/Soft-roader styling. Pretty soon geniune rugged off-road SUV’s will become a thing of the past.:-(

  11. Don’t bother looking for similarities; all cars have common feature these days; even the German ones.

The car itself should look nice.

  12. What a disapointment! Let’s just get all SUV’s to look exactly alike; Ford has acomplished this with the new Escape.

I own an ’08 and love it, and will NOT be buying this new styled Escape.

Ford has struck out with this one.

  13. When will this SUV be available in middle east?
