Mitsubishi Mirage all-new city car launched in Asia

The Mitsubishi Mirage is a replacement for the Colt and will be sold in numerous markets around the world. Indeed, the Colt had left the UAE market a decade ago, but continued elsewhere around the world.

The new Thai-built Mirage is 3700 mm long, 1650 mm wide and 1470 mm tall. These dimensions make it a direct competitor to the Nissan Micra.

The Mirage abandons the Colt’s angular styling in favor of a rounded silhouette. It will be offered with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 78 hp and 99 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a CVT transmission, or a five-speed manual gearbox, both delivering power to the front wheels.

Mitsubishi says that the Mirage is designed to run on petrol but it is capable of running on E10 and E20 petrol/ethanol mixtures. The car is claimed to return 4.61 l/100km.

The top-spec model will come equipped with a navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and an in-dash touchscreen.

The Mirage is scheduled to arrive on European shores in 2013, but whether or not it will reach the GCC is yet to be seen. With the Indian-built Nissan Micra set for a GCC debut in April, anything is possible.
