Mitsubishi Mirage and Lancer Fortis launched in UAE

The local dealer for Mitsubishi in the UAE pulled a couple of surprise launches at the 2012 Sharjah Auto Show this week, unveiling the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis.

The 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage is a sub-compact hatchback built in Thailand, with a 76 hp 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. The specs aren’t final yet, as the spacious hatch is slated to hit showrooms early next year. It will likely cost around Dhs 45,000 when the GCC-spec version is ready.

The 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis is a compact sedan built in Taiwan, and is basically a cheaper version of the Japanese-built Lancer EX, with a front/rear facelift to make it look its price. Even the interior is almost the same, with most body panels similar to the EX. Powered by a 141 hp 1.8-litre 4-cylinder mated to a CVT automatic, the Fortis is intended to replace the older-generation Lancer that had been on sale for almost a decade as a fleet favourite. It is going on sale very soon in two trim levels, with the top one priced at Dhs 61,000. The base model is likely around Dhs 50,000.
