2013 Mitsubishi Outlander unveiled at LA Auto Show

The new 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander was revealed at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. A completely new redesign which ditches the Lancer-inspired front fascia, the Outlander now has the looks to be a major player in the seven-seater segment.

The exterior body is now composed of high-tensile steel which reduces the weight of the new Outlander by as much as 90 kgs. The interior also had a major overhaul, featuring soft-touch materials and wooden accents all around.

The engine is the same 2.4-litre 4-cylinder, mated to a CVT but Mitsubishi claims to have retuned it to give it the same power but better fuel efficiency.

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander should hit the showrooms in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and GCC in the beginning of next year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Mitsubishi buyer guide.

  1. it sucks, very ugly

  2. Firstly its an 2014 model at the Los Angeles auto show.
    The 2.4 litre engine makes 166 hp and there’s also a 3.0 litre v6 engine that’s makes 224 hp.
There’s new features like adaptive cruise control and forward collision mitigation system and lane departure warning.
I know that these features might not come to the UAE but you have to include them, so people can see what they are missing here in the GCC countries.

  3. uglllllllllllllllly

  4. pathetic. the design will compete with likes of ssangyong

  5. Well…the insides are not so bad, although lacking.

The outside is completely out of question: UGLY !

    • Oh yeah because the kia sorento looks amazing, and the Toyota fortuner looks awesome, oh let’s not forget how good looking the new Honda crv is 🙂 this car looks plain not ugly and I bet it’s better looking in real life with different colours, let’s face it none of the cars I mentioned was made to win any beauty contests, and neither is the outlander. Even the infiniti jx isn’t a looker, but at the end of the day, people who look for these cars want practicality.

    • if its practicality we are looking for, then why bother changing the looks ?

And actually, come to think of it, the kia sorento looks kinda decent (if u compare the old boxy one). If u compare the old outlander (even with the odd shark nose) it still looked more aggressive and original than this “crappy” design.

Even if i want a practical car, it doesnt mean i dont care about the looks, thats the bread and butter of the car industry. Looks are as important as practicality/functionality.

    • Hmmm well, looks are a subjective matter. You still didn’t give me a car that looks good in this kind of segment?? And again it doesn’t look crappy, it just looks like a plain normal car. I’ll tell you why they changed the shark nose, it’s because people shopping around for cars in this segment were intimidated by it. Ask yourself why did Honda make the crv the way it is? Why did Toyota change the shape of the rav4? Why did Nissan change the shape of the pathfinder? Why did infiniti make the jx? Because that’s what most people are looking for.

  6. Well its just me then, that looks like a elongated Subaru forester.

I used to own the previous gen outlander v6,what seemed like a fantastic deal due to the options and pricing; was ruined by an under powered engine, poor fuel economy, cheap interiors and to top it all dealer service and parts was the worst experience ever,

I will never own another mitsubishi nor suggest them to prospective buyers.

    • Well all that has changed now because the new v6 engine is more efficient and the interior is much much better than before. Plus it should be faster too, because it’s 90 kg lighter and more aerodynamic than before. The one thing that hasn’t is the service and parts 😛

  7. Its been out for a while. This model was shown at Geneva Autoshow in March this year and its already sold in Europe.

  8. i think da back is bit ugly and rest is fine exept da 4 cylender for a 4WD

  9. Personally I like the new design. The previous front and side styling were attractive looking but what about the back. Just flat, like it reversed into something. And the taillights were just tacky. It kept me from seriously considering the car for purchase, even though practically it was a winner. The 2013 model is more of a contender as a compact SUV.
