Recall for Chevrolet Aveo, Captiva, Epica, Optra and GMC Terrain in UAE

There is a massive recall underway for several General Motors models in the UAE, including the Chevrolet Aveo, Captiva, Epica, Optra and GMC Terrain, between model-years 2007 and 2010. It was quietly announced by the UAE’s Ministry of Economy in an Arabic statement, which is why it flew under the radar.

According the the statement, the recall is being issued due to a “defect in the brake pedal”, as far as we could figure out. It looks like the recall involves all of the General’s Korean-built models only, for all 2007-2010 models. Incidentally, this is the second GCC-specific recall for the Chevrolet Captiva and GMC Terrain, the previous one being in 2010 for “a possible separation of the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column in certain driving conditions.”

The current UAE recall covers 4,900 vehicles in the UAE. It should also be in effect for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
