Recall on 2012 Chevrolet Camaro and others

Four different General Motors models are being recalled over a potential airbag issue in the United States. The affected cars, all 2012 models only, include the Chevrolet Camaro.

The 2012 editions of the Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic as well as the Buick Verano are being recalled due to the driver’s side airbag “shorting bar” that might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won’t deploy when it should in an accident. The recall affects almost 4,000 cars in the States, where dealers will have the airbag coil replaced for free.

It is unknown if the GCC-spec Chevrolet Camaro will be included in the recall. It is unlikely the recall will apply to Cruze and Sonic models in our region, since they come from South Korea and not the United States.

  1. Even my GMC Acadia did not have a heater system for the AC. I received a call from the dealer asking me to give them the car for three days to install the missing components, but I was like get the hell out of my life and I replaced it with a Sierra instead.

This happened in Qatar so I don’t know about the UAE. Tens of Acadia’s in Qatar suffered the same problem, sold in 2009.
