2014 BMW 4-Series with M-performance parts revealed

2014 BMW 4-Series M-Performance
We have to say that this was expected following BMW stopping production of the M3 coupe. BMW revealed this week the 4-Series Coupe sprinkled with a dash of ‘M Performance’ parts, subsequently giving us an initial taste of the upcoming M4.

And by first looks, it certainly seems more aggressive than the standard model, thanks to a new body kit with a deeper front bumper fitted with carbon-fibre splitter and larger air ducts. Other changes to the exterior include xenon/LED headlamps, properly pretty 20-inch alloy wheels and several blackened chrome trims for the window surrounds, tail pipes and grille. You will also notice beefier side sills and carbon-fibre exterior mirror housings, together with a boot deck spoiler made from the same material. The revised rear bumper has air extraction ducts and a built-in diffuser, while the sides of the car are adorned by new decals.

The interior cabin boasts a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel and sport seats, stainless steel pedals and footrest, M Performance floor mats and more carbon-fibre trim for the hand brake and gearshift levers.

Now, let’s get into the more interesting bits. BMW says that the 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the 428i is upgraded to 269 hp and 389 Nm, representing an increase of 27 hp and 39 Nm of torque than its saner sibling. In addition to that, the 435i with its turbocharged 6-cylinder, 3.0-litre engine gains 34 hp and 50 Nm to amount for a total of 336 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Alongside that there is the 420d that is good for an extra 16 hp and 39 Nm of torque. It is powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, and the added oomph increases total output to 195 hp and 418 Nm of torque. All these power upgrades are done via new exhaust systems and software tweaks.

From the M Performance Parts catalog, customers will have the possibility of selecting a limited-slip differential which will be a clutch-type unit featuring a 30 percent lock-up.

The BMW M4 coupe will be unveiled in January 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show, following which there may be a mid-summer launch in UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC.

  1. Quite an aggressive kit. All in all adds a lot of sporty feel for the 4 series
