Shelby GT packages give Ford Mustang up to 624 hp

The Ford Mustang GT with its 5.0-litre V8 might be pretty quick but Shelby thinks that 420 hp is a little less for a pure bred muscle car, and have come up with a 624 hp powerhouse of a car; dubbed the Shelby GT. The car was unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Now, putting down the figures, the Ford Mustang GT costs roughly Dhs 150,000, and that’s pretty much bang for the buck stuff right there. Anyhow, shell out an extra Dhs 55,000 in equivalent U.S. money and you’ll be looking at a 430 hp, courtesy of a Borla exhaust and some engine tuning. You’ll also get racing suspension, 20-inch wheels, a fibre-glass hood, Le Mans racing stripes and some Shelby badges.

Throw in an extra Dhs 103,000 and you’ll be looking at a Shelby GT/SC. The standard engine receives a Ford Racing Whipple supercharger which is capable of producing 525 hp and if opted to, 624 hp as well. Furthermore, you’ll get a Shelby cooling system, front spoiler, Shelby GT500 rear spoilers and a wide body kit. The supercharged version reportedly hits from 0-100 kph in 3.7 seconds. And that’s good enough to show your tail lights to cars twice the price.

At this point, customers can custom-build their Shelby GT online. But we’re hoping to see the upgrades being made available for purchase in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC by the local dealers.
