2016 Lexus IS 200t unveiled, set to replace IS 250

Following the path of cutting down on engine size and increasing fuel efficiency, Lexus has unveiled a new turbocharged IS variant with a smaller displacement. The greener model, the IS 200t was unveiled this week and is set to replace the IS 250.

Visually the same as the current IS, under the hood the car packs a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged VVT-iW engine that produces about 235 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This means it will definitely be faster than the current IS 250, going on to accelerate from 0-100 kph in about 7 seconds and also hit a top speed of 230 kph.

The engine is mated to an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift transmission, the same one developed for the RC F. The upsides include improved fuel efficiency and cleaner CO2 emissions. The power will be put to the ground by the rear wheels.

The 2016 Lexus IS 200t could to make its entry into UAE, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC sometime next year.
