Ford Fiesta ST200 revealed in Geneva Motor Show

The new Fiesta ST200, a hotter version of the already capable Fiesta ST, has made its way to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. As the number attached to the name suggests, 200 PS (197 hp) is what it puts out, which is 18 hp more than the output of a standard ST.

The ST200 uses the same turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine from the ST, but its more potent in the new guise. The ST200 comes with an overboost feature that kicks in when full throttle is applied. It hikes the output to 215 hp and 320 Newton meters of torque for 15 seconds. These mechanical revamps have slashed the 0-100 kph timings to 6.7 seconds from the ST’s 6.9 and have also increased the top speed by 10 kph to 230 kph. Power is delivered to the front-wheels with the help of a 6-speed manual transmission.

Ford has carried over the same stiffened suspension, lowered ride height, brakes and sharp steering of the standard ST.

The ST200 is easily distinguishable from the rest of the Fiesta lot, thanks to the Storm Gray exterior finish and blacked-out wheels. Red brake calipers, Charcoal Recaro seats with silver stitching, illuminated scuff plates makes up the rest of the alterations made to the ST.

Ford will commence the manufacturing of the Fiesta ST200 in June. It is unlikely the Fiesta ST200 will make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia or other GCC markets since they don’t sell the standard Fiesta ST in this region.
