Volvo XC90, S60, V60 and XC60 updated for 2017

2017 Volvo XC90

Volvo has revealed details on changes for 2017, to update the safety and powertrain options in the Swedish carmaker’s lineup.

The 90-Series, which include the XC90 and the S90, will receive an updated Sensus Infotainment system, which will now be preloaded with applications such as Spotify and Park and Pay.

On the safety front, the XC90 will receive Volvo’s new ‘Pilot Assist II’ semi-autonomous drive technology in selected markets. This should enable the SUV’s intelligence system to assist the driver to accelerate, brake and steer, at speeds of up to 130 kph on well-marked roads. Furthermore, the XC90 also receives an upgraded ‘Run-off’ system, that can auto-steer the SUV in order to keep it on the road. Also on the cards is an updated ‘City Safety’ standard collision avoidance system that can now detect animals on the road.

The flagship SUV will also receive ‘Power Pulse’ technology, a system that uses compressed air to deliver an instantaneous response by spooling up the turbo on the D5 diesel powertrain. This should result in faster acceleration.

The 60 series — XC60, S60 and V60 — will receive as standard, a 245 hp T5 petrol engine. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and will be equipped with all-wheel-drive.

Alongside the safety and powertrain updates, the vehicles will also receive new colour options such as Luminous Sand (Series-60), Mussel Blue (XC60, S60, V60, and V60 Cross Country), and Bursting Blue (S60, V60, and XC60 R-Design).

The updated lineup should make its way into the showrooms of UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC later this year.

  1. Hmm, Suddenly Volvo’s started looking upscale. When someone said Volvo, I would start thinking about either safety or heavy duty trucks. Good now they are concentrating on design aspects…

  2. When will XC60 follow xc90 design? 2018 then..?
