2018 Hyundai i30 Wagon revealed

Hyundai has revealed a wagon version of their i30 model at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The 2017 i30 Wagon comes on the heels of the recently-released i30 hatchback. It shares a platform with the Kia Cee’d as well.

Offering 602 litres worth of boot space, folding the rear seats can free up more room taking the total count to 1650 litres. Despite the added room, the i30 Wagon retains the footprint of the hatchback, with a wheelbase that is 2650mm long. At 1750mm, the wagon is equally wide as the hatchback.

The engine line-up carries over obviously. The 1.0-litre petrol motor with 120 hp starts up the proceedings while the 1.4-litre four-cylinder with 140 hp tops it off. A 1.6-litre CRDi diesel is offered in 95 hp, 110 hp, and 136 hp flavours. The engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and front-wheel-drive. An all-wheel-drive system is in the works but is reserved for the upcoming i30 N hot hatch, which is currently nothing but a blur to us.

The wagon carries over all the safety equipment that are being offered with the Euro-spec hatchback such as Advanced Smart Cruise Control and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Optional extras include a Lane Keeping Assist System, Blind Spot, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert and a High Beam Assist. The goodies inside the cabin include wireless charging, rearview camera, and an 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2017 Hyundai i30 Wagon will debut in foreign markets soon, but is unlikely to be offered alongside the hatchback in the GCC. The range will later be expanded with the addition of the i30 N hot hatch and then possibly a fastback body style, none of which are likely to grace UAE roads either.
