2018 Kia Sorento revealed for Europe, coming to UAE soon

At the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, Kia showed the 2018 Sorento facelift for Europe. South Korea, its home market, received the facelifted 2018 Sorento a few weeks ago. As it is just a mid-life refresh, the changes just include updated bumpers and minor tweaks in the design of the lights.

First of all, the fascia updates include a new dark metallic finish for the “tiger nose” grill, updated bumpers, four-point LED fog lights and a pair of optional full-LED adaptive headlights. The addition of two new shades, Rich Espresso and Gravity Blue expands the 2018 Sorento’s colour palette. In addition to these, the alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19-inches come with updated designs.

The cabin of the updated Sorento gets a new steering wheel, an updated instrument cluster with a new display for the climate control system. The infotainment system comes tagged with an 8-inch touchscreen system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Getting the optional sound system will add a 640W, 10-speaker Harman Kardon setup to the mix. Safety tech for the new Sorento includes driver attention warning, lane keeping assistant, and high beam assist.

The current lineup of 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol, 3.3-litre V6 petrol, and the 2.2-litre diesel will soldier on. A new eight-speed automatic transmission has snuck its way into the powertrain options list of the 2018 Sorento. This will replace the six-speed unit that comes fitted with the diesel engine in Europe. Kia hasn’t confirmed their plans for the other markets. The new unit will deliver smoother and faster ships and will also help in reducing emissions. The six-speed manual will also be on offer as an alternate choice.

The 2018 Kia Sorento shared the stage at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show with the Picanto X-Line. Expect the new model to reach UAE, KSA and GCC shores by early next year.
