2018 Mercedes-Benz S Class Coupe and Cabriolet range gets facelift

Mercedes-Benz is offering a revamped range of S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models for the 2018 model year. These vehicles will follow the lines of the updated Mercedes Benz S-Class sedan that was released earlier this year. The exterior gets updated bumpers, LED headlamps and tail lamps and new tailpipes. The refreshed lineup includes the Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the S560, S63 AMG and the S65 AMG.

2018 Mercedes Benz S560 Coupe and Cabriolet

Both the S560 Coupe and Cabriolet gets the updated 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the S560 Sedan and the Mercedes AMG GT. This mill dishes out 463 hp and 700 Nm of torque. To deliver the power to the tarmac, the S560 Coupe gets the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system while the Cabriolet is only available with rear-wheel drive. Both the cars do the 0-100 kph run in a bit over 4.5 seconds. The interior gets the new Energizing Comfort Interface system that controls the seat heating/massaging, ambient lighting, drive modes and music system. A new steering wheel with touch controls makes its way in too. The S560 Cabriolet gets open-top specific amenities like the Aircap wind deflector and the Airscarf neck warmer. The latest Mercedes Driver Assistance System that adds semi-autonomous driving capabilities along with the Magic Body Control stability system are offered as optional extras.

2018 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet

If it’s pace that you’re after, this is the S-Class to get. The S63 AMG is powered by a spiced up version of AMG’s 4.0-litre V8 that produces 603 hp and a colossal 900 Nm of torque. All this power is managed by a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission called the AMG Speedshift. The run from 0-100 kph is finished in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is limited to 299 kph. The S63 Coupe and Cabriolet are available with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The system in the AMG is the AMG 4Matic+ which provisions the driver to control the torque between the front and rear wheels. Gizmos like a Performance exhaust, AMG Track Pace App, and the AMG Sport Airmatic Suspension are standard for both the models. The carbon ceramic brakes are optional extras as is the different 20-inch wheels.

2018 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet

The S65 is one of the top bananas in the S-Class stable and in the Coupe or the Cabriolet guise, it has lost none of its regal aura. Under the massive hood, it houses the massive twin-turbo V12 that outputs 621 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission channels the power to the rear wheels. Note, there is no 4Matic AWD on offer here. Despite the increase in power, the S65 AMG is slower from 0 to 100 kph than the S63 AMG by 0.6 seconds. The top speed remains limited at the same 299 kph mark though. The S65 AMG gets a slightly different front-end and a set of unique alloy wheels. Both the S63 and S65 models can be specced with the AMG Night Package or the Carbon Fibre Package.

All the 2018 Mercedes Benz S Class Coupe and Cabriolet models will go on sale in the UAE, KSA and other GCC countries next year.
