Porsche offers weight-saving Weissach Package for 2019 911 GT3 RS

Harking back to the old days when naturally aspirated engines produced raw horses with no help from forced induction trickery, came the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Now for some added performance, Porsche has released a GT3 RS Weissach Edition which slashes some weight off the 520 hp beast.

When the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS was released, it was the most powerful naturally aspirated 911 around and now the Weissach package makes it even faster by shedding some kilos. To start with, the GT3 RS’s magnesium roof gets chopped off to get replaced by a carbon fibre unit that can save 0.5 kilos and drop the centre of gravity of the car by a little bit, aiding handling. Carbon fibre is extensively put to use to create the stabiliser bars and suspension coupling rods, helping the car lose another 5.4 kilos. If all of this seems too heavy for you, you can opt for magnesium wheels to slice off 11 more kilos.

Inside the car, the Weissach package adds carbon fibre shift paddles and lightweight carpets. It also slaps the Weissach logo onto the seat trim and dashboard.

With the optional wheels added, the total weight of the GT3RS falls to 1,430 kilos. In the States, the Weissach package will cost US$ 18,000. If you need the wheels, that’d be an extra US$ 13,000 please.

The package should be available at local UAE and GCC dealers to order.
