The Hyundai Tucson has been a best-seller for the Korean company since it debuted in 2005 as an inoffensive, slightly-smaller compact crossover that was priced to compete with Japanese compact cars at the time. So it’s surprising to see Hyundai take such a massive design risk with the all-new 2021 Tucson that has just been revealed.
Hyundai unveiled the heavily revamped 2019 Hyundai Tucson crossover at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The exterior more looks like the larger Santa Fe and the interior is completely revamped. There is more tech inside the cabin as well as under the hood, where Hyundai has done something most manufacturers don’t do nowadays, replacing a Turbo engine with a naturally-aspirated one.
We’re guessing this will probably be our most popular story for August. Did you know that the Hyundai Tucson is the highest-selling crossover in its segment in several countries, including the UAE? And to be honest, the outgoing version of the Tucson wasn’t particularly good to begin with, managing to outsell all its rivals simply by being cheap. But this new one is completely different from the ground up. And we went all the way to the Canary Islands to find that out.

Hyundai’s Middle East office has officially launched the 2014 Hyundai Tucson crossover in the GCC, during the opening ceremony of its new Africa & Middle East Training Academy, the company’s first such dedicated training facility in Dubai. Say what you want about the Americans, but they are a serious bunch when it comes to safety. The U.S. government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration — NHTSA — is the one that mandates airbags and tyre-pressure monitors in all new cars, subdued automakers into making their roof strength higher while inadvertently making outward visibility worse due to thicker pillars, and is set to force rear-view cameras on all new cars by 2014 thereby making car prices higher. And if that weren’t enough, there are not one, but two agencies in the U.S. that conduct crash tests, one being the NHTSA and other being the private Insurance Institute for Highway Safety —
The all-new 2010 Hyundai Tucson went on sale in the UAE recently, after a press launch in Oman to which we were not invited. The secretive new crossover is available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah showrooms with two engines, a whole host of comfort options, and typical Korean safety features.
