If you think that the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Cabriolet is not opulent enough, worry not. Mercedes-Benz has revealed a more luxurious and more exclusive Maybach version of the S-Class Cabriolet. The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, although unlike the Mercedes-Maybach sedan, this one doesn’t benefit from a long-wheelbase or four doors (which would’ve been cool and unique). Pretty much just a trim package, the exclusive Maybach offering will grace the garages of only 300 customers around the world.

The CL-Class is dead. Long live the S-Class Coupe. Oddly enough, before two generations of the Cl-Class, Mercedes-Benz’s largest 2-door offering was indeed called the S-Class Coupe before someone in marketing decided the name change. However, the German carmaker has decided to simplify at least some of their model names, and therefore we have the all-new S-Class Coupe for 2015. There was a time when the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was the gold standard for luxury cars, by which every other was measured. It held that distinction for decades, until about the turn of the millenium, when rivals stepped up their game at the same time that Mercedes quality took a dump. The kind of flagships peddled by everyone from Audi to Hyundai nowadays are nothing short of outstanding, each in their own way, so much so that we couldn’t imagine how luxury cars could evolve further.
