The Porsche Cayenne was a car that managed to raise quite a lot of purist eyebrows when it first debuted in 2002. The decision taken by a pure sports-car manufacturer like Porsche to build an SUV was questioned by many, but the Cayenne, over 14 years and 2 generations, answered all their questions with impressive sales and positive reviews. And now, the boffins at Stuttgart have revealed the third generation of the Cayenne with updated looks, new interior and a lower curb weight.

The 2015 Porsche Cayenne has been revealed, receiving a minor facelift and engine upgrades. The new generation Cayenne will launch in five versions: Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel and, for the first time, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. The base V6 Cayenne is missing, but might be introduced later. The Cayenne S drops its V8 for a turbo V6, while the GTS is taking a likely-temporary hiatus.

Porsche will be locally launching the new-generation 911 Turbo, 911 Turbo S, 911 GT3 and 911 50th Anniversary Edition at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show this week, alongside the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the Porsche E-Mobility concept. A 1/8th scale model of the 918 Spyder will also be displayed, according to new Porsche Middle East boss Christer Ekberg at a recent media roundtable.

The Porsche World Roadshow is an event held around the world almost every year by the German carmaker’s dealers, to showcase their latest models to potential customers in the comfort of, well, a racetrack. We’ve attended the UAE event in years past, but for whatever reason, we did not get an invite from Porsche this year. But then an invitation came in from the most unlikely of places — Emirates NBD Bank!
