 The Association of German Car Tuners, as illegal as it may sound, has unveiled their latest concept car creation for their “TUNE IT! SAFE!” initiative, designed by BMW tuners AC Schnitzer. The 1-Series diesel coupe police car is intended to promote safe tuning, as opposed to the outright banning of modified cars, like in some [...]  German tuners Brabus is now offering a tuning package for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG, complete with a pumped-up engine and a robotic body kit.  The recently-updated 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera can be made be faster by slapping on a kit by TechArt of Germany. The components include a “Racing” exhaust valve and new engine electronics for an increase of “up to” 35 hp.  Celebrating its 50th year in America, Honda kicked off its week at the 2009 SEMA tuner show in Las Vegas with a variety of accessorised Honda models, including an official reveal of a 2010 Accord Sedan fitted with Mugen extras.  European tuning firm Mansory has unveiled their new limited edition Chopster, based on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, but upgraded in power and chopped in height.  The exclusive dealer for BMW in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain is now offering a HAMANN body kit for the BMW X6, with a complete factory warranty.  Infiniti dealers in the UAE and a few other GCC countries are now offering a dealer-fitted body kit for the Infiniti FX35 and FX50 crossover 4×4 models. When MJ Acquisitions bought out Saleen Performance Vehicles earlier this year, original founder Steve Saleen left and started up another tuner company called SMS Supercars. And while Steve is battling his former company for rights to the “Saleen” name, the firm bearing his name has unveiled its first 2010 product since the acquisition, called the [...]  The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, staid and boring in stock form, doesn’t exactly look any better after extensive modifications. The new RS-Kit by Carlsson attempts to give the GL a “sporty” look, but ends up looking more like a thug.  The modified Porsche Cayenne Turbo Balrog is the work of “car stylist” Jeremie Paret, former editor at a French “luxury tuning” magazine, who last year decided to start a new business called Balrog’s Garage. The Cayenne Balrog is his first offering.  The 1975 Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 is from those times when the German company’s cars were legendary, both in performance and reliability. German tuner Lorinser was also active back then, modifying the W116-series Benz and creating even more rare cars in the process. Lorinser themselves have now put up one of their originals for sale. German-based Gemballa, who like to refer to themselves as an auto manufacturer rather than a tuner, have now created the Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R, as usual starting out with a Porsche. Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R seems to take a piece from the names of at least four other [...]  AC Schnitzer has unveiled their new range of mods for the 2009 versions of the Mini Cooper Convertible and the Mini Cooper S Convertible.  American-based Karvajal Designs recently showed off their body-kit package for the Chevrolet Corvette C6.  As if the Volvo XC60 wasn’t blobby enough, European tuner Heico is offering a complete styling package for the compact soft-roader that includes front and rear bumpers, side skirts and steel steps, exhaust system, wheels and lowered suspension.  Continuing our theme of oversized body kits for oversized egos, here is a body kit for the Toyota Land Cruiser by Japanese kit-maker Wald. Called the BLACK BISON package, it is nothing more than a styling package. |
