 The all-new 2010 Hyundai Tucson went on sale in the UAE recently, after a press launch in Oman to which we were not invited. The secretive new crossover is available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah showrooms with two engines, a whole host of comfort options, and typical Korean safety features.  The 2010 Kia Sorento was officially launched in the UAE at a dinner event in Dubai, although we hear it is on sale here already as well as in Oman and other GCC countries. After a highly anticipated global release, the 2010 Chevrolet Cruze compact value sedan has arrived to Oman Trading Establishment (OTE) showrooms, with prices starting from RO 5,300.  While the all-new Kia Cerato has been available in Oman for many months now, Dubai-based dealers are preparing to launch the redesigned compact sedan as a 2010 model.  The all-new Porsche Panamera made its UAE debut at an event hosted in Abu Dhabi for customers and media. It was also the first time that the Panamera sedan has gone on sale outside Europe, as the GCC is the second region to make the car available in showrooms.  We were not invited, but apparently the 2010 Mazda 3 was launched at a Dubai showroom in the UAE, with simultaneous debuts for the Oman and Saudi Arabian markets. While they proudly claim to be the newest compact car in the GCC, it is also the most disappointing new car released this year. Zubair Automotive is holding a series of road shows across Oman to reach out to their customers. So far, 14 road shows have been held in Salalah, Bidiya, Rustaq, Sahem, Wadi Tayeen, Al Kamil, Yenkel and Izki with five more scheduled in the coming weeks. Mitsubishi FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), a brand renowned worldwide for manufacturing commercial vehicles, has recently announced its annual ‘FUSO Awards’ recognising outstanding achievements and performances by their distributors worldwide. BMW Group, the world’s leading premium automotive manufacturer, has announced that Middle East sales of BMW Premium Selection, its industry-leading global used car programme, for January to June 2009 increased by 45% over the same period in 2008.  Kia Motors dealers in the UAE still haven’t gotten around to selling the 2010 Cerato compact sedan yet, but in its Korean home market where it is known as the Forte, Kia is already offering their first commercial hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the Forte Liquid Petroleum Injection (LPI) Hybrid.  The new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé will be available in showrooms across the the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar from July this year, with various engine options. Failing brand Chevrolet is rejoicing again after minor victories in motorsports. Following a WTCC triumph in Marrakech earlier in the month, the Cruze won both races of the Race of France that took place on the extremely demanding street of Pau in southern France, extending the team’s winning run to four. Drivers Rob Huff, Alain [...] Ford Middle East announced that applications for the 2009-2010 Ford Motor Company Conservation and Environmental Grants are now being accepted, as Ford marks the 10th year anniversary of the programme in the GCC, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, coinciding with the World Environment Day on June 5th. Volvo Cars Middle East announced on Tuesday May 26 2009, the winner of the unknown XC60 City Safety game. Only 13,799 participants from the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain played the badly-promoted safety game on Volvo‘s website and entered the draw to win the exceptional Volvo XC60. The Sayarti showroom in Oman is a new 1-stop shop concept that offers maintenance packages that are carried out using only genuine parts that are executed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
