Nissan, Mazda & Jeep join recall season

For what seemed like ages, there was no rain. But then when it finally rains, it pours. And we aren’t even talking about the stormy local weather. Nissan, Mazda and Jeep have joined the runaway recall bandwagon, while GM and Hyundai have managed to keep their noses clean in the UAE.

Bad news for Hummer, Hyundai, Suzuki & of course Toyota

Bad news hit several automakers over the past few days, not least of which is Toyota’s continued pounding due to recalls. Hyundai and Suzuki have also joined the recall craze, while Hummer suffers from bad news of a different kind.

GCC recalls for Honda & Toyota begin

Toyota and Honda are proceeding with recall campaigns in some GCC countries. Toyota is offering a free fix for affected Avalon and Sequoia owners, while Honda will do complimentary work on a handful of Odyssey minivans.

Honda recalls 2001-2002 models, UAE not affected

Honda has added another 437,000 vehicles to an existing global recall for faulty air bags that dates back to November 2008, now totalling 510,000 cars.

Toyota recalling Avalon & Sequoia in UAE

While news in the U.S. is that new throttle-assembly parts are making its way to dealers there, the Toyota dealer in the UAE has made an official announcement regarding the recall, regarding affected GCC-spec models.

Volvo recalls XC60 and other older models in U.S.

The U.S. NHTSA safety agency has announced two factory recalls for the Volvo XC60 and various other older Volvo models involving problems with fuel systems. The recall covers more than 140,000 vehicles manufactured since 2000.

Toyota to replace pedals on 3.8 million U.S. cars

Toyota has agreed to replace the accelerator pedal with a shorter one on 3.8 million cars sold in the United States as part of its biggest factory recall in history. Cars receiving the modification will include the Toyota Camry, the Toyota Avalon, the Lexus ES and the Lexus IS.

U.S. agency investigating Ford Freestar gearboxes

The U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating hundreds of reports that the 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and rebadged Mercury Monterey minivans have defective automatic transmissions that could fail without warning. The uproar is over the fact that many of the transmissions reportedly failed at highway speeds.

Dodge Nitro 2007 U.S. recall over wipers

Chrysler is recalling 84,680 examples of the 2007 Dodge Nitro in the United States. The windshield wiper system may experience a condition over time where high usage of the variable pause wiper function, or “delay” mode, may eventually affect wiper functionality, rendering the wiper system inoperable.

Jeep Wrangler 2007-2008 recall for gearbox sensor

Chrysler is recalling 161,500 Jeep Wrangler models of years 2007 through to 2008, manufactured between June 2006 and July 2008, specifically those equipped with the automatic transmission. These vehicles were not equipped with a transmission fluid temperature warning system.

Ford recalls 4.5 million vehicles in U.S.
