PGO Speedster II

An identical replica of the Porsche 356 Speedster from the 1960s, the new-age Speedster II is hand-built by French outfit Pierre Gérard Organisation, also known as PGO. Changes to the basic design include higher-positioned mirrors, modern tail-lights and stylish 16-inch or 17-inch rims. The chassis is made of composite materials, is attached to a steel frame. The engine, Peugeot-sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder, is mounted in the rear, while the small luggage compartment is in the front. Standard setup include rear-wheel-drive, a five-speed manual gearbox and a cloth soft top. Features include a cloth or leather interior, electric mirrors, basic CD stereo and as many as eight whole gauges, but not much else. The windows are of the removable variety, and the soft top is manual. The car stays true to its roots and therefore has no ABS brakes, no airbags and not even power steering. Sold only in a few GCC countries, the Speedster offers a pure driving experience few cars offer, but it can only be regarded as an expensive toy.
