The Drophead Coupe is a new-for-2008 convertible that remains faithful to the marine-nautical theme of the concept car shown a few years before. A hardtop coupe debuts in 2009. The two-door four-seater features rearward-opening "suicide" doors, and the ragtop has optional teak-wood paneling as a cover for the folded roof. The optional unpainted hood is made of lacquered stainless steel, while the interior trim is a combination of real wood, real leather and real metal. The extravagantly-large car is powered by a 6.8-litre V12, mated to a 6-speed automatic and a chopped Phantom rear-wheel-drive platform. Standard features include the goofy name, a CD stereo with an amazing fifteen speakers, massive 21-inch alloy wheels, and power everything, including electrically-closing doors. The cloth roof that is said to be quieter than most other hard tops, and 15 cows died to provide the leather cabin. The car is bigger than most full-size cars, so owners will have trouble manouevreing this thing, although it is still very fast and stable. The waiting list for this silly indulgence is very long, but this caricature really has no direct competitors.

Rolls Royce Phantom
The Phantom is the first new model from the new Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as a part of the BMW Group. Phantom is a showcase of modern technology, featuring an aluminium space-frame with aluminium panels and composite front fenders. The chassis, engine and most of its mechanicals are all manufactured in Germany, but final assembly occurs in the United Kingdom. Each car is custom-built according to individual tastes, but all are powered by a BMW-derived 6.8-litre V12 mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive platform. Standard features include a forest's worth of wood, a ranch's worth of leather, larger-than-life 22-inch alloy wheels, high-tech air suspension and the most advanced run-flat tyre system yet. The rear cabin can be outfitted to have a large sofa-style bench or two individual seats, accessed via rear-hinged doors. Legroom is immense, and the floor is nearly flat for easy ingress and egress. Safety features include the usual BMW fare, with multiple airbags and electronic nannies.
