Spyker is largely an unknown name to the general public, but this Dutch name was apparently around as far back as 1898. The company was resurrected in 2000 with the C8 Spyder, a unique and expensive hand-built supercar with an open-top roof. The Spyker C8 Laviolette coupe soon joined the Spyder. In 2002, the street version of their LeMans racer was unveiled as the C8 Double12 S coupe, with an extended rear end. The Spyker C8 range has a 4.2-litre Audi V8, manual or automatic six-speed gearbox, limited slip differential and ABS brakes. Optional features for all cars include a turned-aluminium dashboard fascia, 19-inch Aeroblade magnesium wheels, several leather options, Chronoswiss dashboard instruments, supercharger or even a custom-fitted Louis Vuitton luggage set. The body is built in Germany and the car is assembled in Holland.

Spyker D12 Peking-To-Paris Coming soon
Spyker introduced the oddly-named D12 Peking-To-Paris for the 2008 model year, calling it the first ever Super Sports Utility Vehicle. The D12 Peking-to-Paris takes its name from the famous Spyker that finished second in the most gruelling race of all time, the 1907 Peking-to-Paris Raid. It is powered by the 6.0-litre Audi W12, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission featuring shift paddles. The D12 has an all-aluminium body and frame with stainless-steel skid plates and side sills, and permanent four-wheel-drive. The doors are rear-hinged ‘suicide' doors, and the interior has all sorts of metal roads and pillars, along with gauges for the driver and even for passengers. The glass canopy roof is a reference to modern fighter jets, as are the small character lines above each fender. Features include 24-inch Aeroblade wheels, ceramic brakes and an all-leather interior with four racing seats. The exotic D12 also comes with a serial number for further exclusivity.
