The Kia Picanto, one of the few superminis available in the GCC, underwent a complete redesign for 2012, increasing slightly in size to improve interior space. The Picanto remains a 5-seater hatchback, powered by a new 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine with "dual CVVT" variable valve timing. Only the base model can be had with a 5-speed manual, while the three higher trims get a 4-speed automatic. Features, most of which are optional, includes LED front markers, LED rear lamps, cloth or leatherette upholstery, 13-inch or 14-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, 14-inch or 15-inch alloy wheels, UV-reducing solar windscreen glass, manual or automatic a/c, electric folding door mirrors, automatic light control with ‘welcome and escort’ modes, passenger seat storage tray, under-floor trunk storage box, retractable dual cup holders with mood lighting, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, CD/MP3 stereo with AUX and iPod/USB ports, Bluetooth phone, keyless entry, fog lamps, power windows and sunroof. Safety features, available only on the top model, includes ABS and one airbag.
