Porsche 911 Turbo becomes Gemballa Avalanche GTR
German-based Gemballa, who like to refer to themselves as an auto manufacturer rather than a tuner, have now created the Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R, as usual starting out with a Porsche. Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R seems to take a piece from the names of at least four other cars to make up its long name.
Features of the cobbled-together exterior include scissor doors, headlights from the Carrera GT, custom bonnet and side skirts, carbon-fibre front fenders, big rear spoiler, redesigned front bumper, and a rear bumper with an integrated rear diffuser and space for the Gemballa sport exhaust system.
The upgraded turbocharged flat-6 now offers 650 hp at 6200 rpm and 950 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm. The all-wheel-drive 911 can now complete the 0-100 kph sprint in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 332 kph. Additional performance enhancements can up the power to 800 hp. In which case, the car is probably renamed to Avalanche GTR 800 EVO-R F-16 or something similar.
Also part of the package are 20-inch alloy wheels, enlarged 6-piston front brake calipers with 405 mm discs, rear 4-piston brake calipers with 380 mm discs, a new coilover kit with four individually-adjustable dampers, sport stabilisers and extra strut braces.
The interior gets new leather, aluminium and carbon-fibre trim, along with a sports steering wheel with a full-size airbag and sports seats.
European pricing for the Gemballa Avalanche GTR 650 EVO-R starts from the equivalent of Dhs 1.8 million, including the cost of the 997-generation Porsche 911 Turbo base.
