The 1975 Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 is from those times when the German company’s cars were legendary, both in performance and reliability. German tuner Lorinser was also active back then, modifying the W116-series Benz and creating even more rare cars in the process. Lorinser themselves have now put up one of their originals for sale.

The 6.9-litre V8 is good for 286 hp and a strong 550 Nm of torque. The Lorinser kit added a styling package with slim chrome bumpers, grille insert, integrated fog lights, larger side sills, rear apron and a bigger double-pipe exhaust system. The 16-inch BBS wheels wore 205/55 tyres, which are now surpassed by modern tyres and rims.

The 0-100 kph run took 7.4 seconds, using a 3-speed automatic. THe top speed was 225 kph. The standard 1970s car even came with hydro-pneumatic suspension.

The last “brand new” Lorinser 450 SEL 6.9 has now been put on sale by the company that created it, likely in a bid to raise cash in this recession.
