Mercedes-Benz gives a preview of the F800

Mercedes-Benz recently showed off its new F800 at the Geneva Auto Show. The bold, futuristically designed Mercedes-Benz F800 is said to be the next CLS.

The hybrid F800 will be powered by a V6 engine which produces around 300 hp. Add to that the hybrid module which produces about 109 hp, giving it a total output of 409 hp. This will make it run from 0-100 kph in around 5 seconds with a top speed of 250 kph. Even more impressive is the fuel economy which is said to be about 2.9 l/100 km. The hybrid module allows the F800 to run exclusively on electricity during city driving. It can be driven up to speeds of 120 kph on the hybrid module alone. Total mileage for a full tank can range to almost 600 km.

It has a range of new technologies installed in it. The Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant, which is a more advanced version of its present active cruise control system, can help the car steer around curves by itself for speeds of up to 40 kph. Another feature is the Pre-Safe 360-degree system, which means it has a collision detection system at both the front and back. If it senses a rear-end impact is about to happen, it will apply the brakes 600 milliseconds before the anticipated collision. It is mainly to avoid secondary accidents such as avoid being pushed further front into an intersection or other cars if hit from behind.

Mercedes-Benz will slowly implement some of these technologies into its other models. For now, The Mercedes-Benz is truly a car which showcases how far advanced technology has come. Plus, it doesn’t look too bad either.

When we will possibly get to see the F800-based Mercedes-Benz CLS on the roads of Dubai and Abu Dhabi is not known. For all the latest updates on Mercedes-Benz models in the UAE and GCC, check the Mercedes-Benz buyer guide.

  1. looks….overdesigned IMO. Its as though the front of the car is melting…
customer: help!! my merc is melting!!,
Gargash: impossible, all gcc cars have “zero” defects

  2. ^ I beg to differ, the car does not look over designed. MB designers are known to create trends, not follow them.

By the way, your right on the Gargash Sales comment, I’ve heard that one before too but MB truely engineer reliable and solid built cars, not neccesarily GCC specs alone 😉

  3. The front is ugly and over designed.
This car had also received a bad review with respect to design all over…….

  4. THIS CAR HAS BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR BUT OVER ALL THIS IS NOT EXTRA ORDINERY SPECIAL
