Nissan Juke 2011 for Europe & America

The new-for-2011 Nissan Juke is attracting attention at auto shows in Europe and the United States, and we figured we’ll also give it some attention. Simply another entry into the crossover genre, the Juke tries to stand out for the sake of standing out, with an outlandish exterior design that will either induce stares or puke.

Along with its controversial design, the Juke will be offered with an interesting 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with “DIG” direct injection and an optional torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. The motor is good for 187 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual (FWD only) and an “Xtronic” CVT (AWD only). There will also be a base model with 115 hp 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine, mated to a 5-speed manual and front-wheel-drive.

On front-wheel-drive versions, suspension is MacPherson struts at the front with a torsion beam at the rear, while four-wheel-drive models have a multi-link rear suspension as seen in the Qashqai.

The Nissan Juke also boasts an interior with colour-coded front seats, as well as a centre console inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank and finished in a two-coat high-gloss paint. In the rear, this 5-seater has a fold-down 60/40-split bench seat and flat load floor. Available features range from leather-appointed seats and RearView Monitor to Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, navigation system with real-time traffic information and power sliding moonroof. A long list of standard safety features is also available, including six airbags, ABS and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC).

Another new-to-Nissan technology debuting on JUKE is the innovative Integrated Control (I-CON) system. The I-CON system functions in one setting as a controller for the automatic climate control system, and in the other offers a drive mode selector with three different throttle/transmission/steering response settings, namely Normal, Sport and Eco.

The Juke will be built in England and Japan. It is unclear how the Juke will fit into the current European Nissan line-up, where both the Qashqai and X-Trail are sold. However, considering its unexpected U.S. launch and announcement of “global” availability, the Juke may become available in the UAE and other Middle East countries as well eventually.

  1. The interior matches the color of the car in a great way 🙂 good step with a new turbo engine for japanese at last

  2. I guess this an urban wrangler sort of thing.

  3. hope they doesnt price it like Murano….

  4. Nissan Joke…

  5. ^ Beat me to it

  6. Jsut in one word looks ugly….

  7. I thought it was an April fools thing 🙁 …this is ugly

  8. This is the future guys.
The car designs will not be the same in the next 10-15 years and the Juke is one good example.
Just look back 10-15yrs and see where we are now in car design.
We will get used to these eccentric designs and with time will take it for granted.
The circular lights may not fit well in the front, but overall the car looks good.

Nissan were very successful in many of their latest designs; cars like the new Infiniti FX, the 2010 Murrano, the New Qashqai in Europe and the new Maxima are good examples.

  9. ^ I understand what u mean but with a face like that … man thats a start to a bad future

  10. ha ha ha
You have a point as well; as if they have misplaced the lights postions!

  11. pontiac aztec is considered as the ugliest car ever made….i guess juke can take taht position soon….

  12. The face & overall front seems to resemble a frog.

  13. so.. no one knows when is this JOKE will hit the GCC/UAE market?

  14. Ordinary people dont buy this pile of dumb rubbish… Crossovers are the stupidest thing in the history of automobile, at least design them to look like decent cars not some funky s3x toy from the 70s..
Just look at those dumba$$ fog lamps & that sh1tty interior..

  15. so, this JOKE vs new sportage….. any ideas..

  16. when is this baby for sale in bahrain

    naema

  17. I agree with the interior it smaller then a versa… just was disappointed in the design. Under the hood was cheap looking too..

  18. Hi Any body know when it is lanching in saudi and how much it will be

  19. While the looks are fantastic in my opinion driveing this little beauty is pure fun. Has more horsepower than you would think possible. It is a little tight for storage but I have had smaller and been able to pack things where it still has plenty of room. The lights work great good view of the road and it has a small footprint which make turning radius and parking a joy instead of a pain. This is one of the best all arounf cars I have ever driven. But the most part is PURE JOY for driving excitement. Backup camera is in color and works great its a 4 door but looks like a 2 due to the hidng of the rear door handles. Seriously this is one great car. Its has 3 modes for driving eco for sipping fuel normal for everyday driving and sport which totally changes the dynamics of the vehicle. Part rally car part moon buggy all pure driveing machine. You will love it. give it a shot you wont go wrong

  20. Just ordered mine, red fully loaded!!! I cannot wait to get it! Took it for a test drive and fell in love, blah to all the negative comments!

  21. Blah Blah Blah to all of the negative negatives…No matter it’s design or technology, Juke is one of the best Crossovers in the history of Automobiles especially when it comes to price…Hail to Juke…And, so was the Kia Sportage R 2011, as it was and still is the best SUV under such design, tech and price…If I could afford, I’d have both of them instantly…Cant wait to see both specifically Nissan Juke in Pakistan…

  22. My Juke was $30,000.00+ in CAD

  23. The Nissan is the worlds first small cross over. its is now declared a global success. This is due to its funky and distinctive design and the sports bike inspired interior. The starting price in the UAE is AED 72000 only.
