Ford Racing offers supercharger for 2011 Mustang GT

Ford Racing, a division of Ford that occasionally offers factory racing parts and cars for purchase by the general U.S. public, has announced an all-new 2.3-litre twin-screw supercharger for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT that will make it more powerful than the Shelby GT500.

Available for the first time to the public, the Ford Racing supercharger bumps up the stock 412 hp 5.0-litre V8’s power to 624 hp at 6,900 rpm and 726 Nm at 4,700 rpm. It is likely that one would have to go with the manual version, as the automatic might not be able to handle the extra kick.

The unassembled factory-tested supercharger kits are available in three levels, including a 525 hp kit with a 12-month warranty along with the 624 hp kit, as well as a tuner kit for racing enthusiasts.

The kits add only 21 kg to the total weight of the car, and range in cost from US$ 6,499 for black and US$ 8,099 for polished chrome finishes. Of course, installation will cost extra, possibly bringing up the cost to Dhs 50,000, as will upgrading the rest of the car to handle the power. These parts will never be offered in the UAE officially, but there are always back channels.

Keep track of GCC models in the Ford Mustang buyer guide.

  1. so will this not work with the Shelby? because if not, what is the point of the Shelby now? a 5.0 Mustang GT + this kit will cost less than a Shelby while producing roughly 75hp more.

so other than the name plate, why would anyone buy a Shelby now?

  2. Not everyone will want to do a bolt-on kit. Plus this kit doesn’t address brakes, chassis and suspension upgrades that the Shelby has over the GT. Certainly many buyers–especially older guys–will want the Shelby badge, but the Shelby is also a turn key package from the factory which I suspect will make all the difference to most buyers.

  3. I doubt the szr racers care about brake, suspension, chasis upgrades. they can just slap on the 624bhp kit onto their stangs and put other road users lives in danger lol.

on a more serious note, pretty good packages and the pricing is not too bad either. hope they can ship it to UAE, if not via the dealer atleast to individuals who want to install it on their own.

  4. Hey Mustang drivers, if you’re into upgrading your Mustang’s looks, power, control, then check out the Saudi Ford dealer. They have some hot offers on power N Control kits from Roush, Superchargers from Ford Racing, body kits from 3dCarbon, performance wheels. You name it, they got it and at hot prices too.
