Nissan Juke-R officially announced in Europe

The Nissan Juke is the answer to a question nobody asked. Part-hatchback, part-crossover and all-controversial, Nissan has gone ahead and asked itself another question: “What do you get when you cross a Nissan Juke with a Nissan GT-R?”

Nissan is busy building the Juke-R, which they’ve dubbed the “super crossover”. Flared wheel arches, revised front and rear bumpers, a unique split rear wing and bigger 20-inch wheels are the exterior clues that this is “a Juke that thinks it’s a GT-R,” and with good reason.

Under the bonnet is a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine taken directly from the Nissan , complete with its 6-speed automanual transaxle, with the front and rear ends joined by a modified GT-R all-wheel-drive driveline and prop-shaft.

The interior has been modified to accommodate the gauges, dials and 7-inch customisable LCD display from the GT-R. The Juke’s “motorcycle-inspired” centre console, remains even while the rest of the interior has been modded for track duty. Race-seats with five-point harnesses sit inside a visible roll cage that passes FIA safety standards as well as enhances rigidity.

However, the “Super Juke” is not for production and is a one-off, road-legal concept car, developed by Nissan and built by motorsports outfit RML with input from the Nissan Technology Centre for Europe. Talk about getting your hopes up!
