2012 Sharjah Auto Show: Photo coverage

The 2012 edition of the Sharjah Auto Show is expectedly as cosy as it’s always been, but it held a few interesting surprises this year. Held alongside the Middle East Motor Awards, almost all the top nominated cars were displayed together in one mega-display of great cars, including the McLaren MP4-12C, the Toyota 86 and the Porsche 911. Elsewhere, Mitsubishi launched two new unexpected models, the Lancer Fortis and the Mirage. Nissan displayed their entire range, including the new Altima, redesigned Urvan and the current GT-R, with Infiniti taking another section. Volkswagen brought out the new Polo Sedan as well as a lifted Amarok pickup. BMW displayed the new M6 alongside the rest of the range, while Mini had the new automatic John Cooper Works. Mercedes-Benz had the new GL-Class, while General Motors had the new Cadillac ATS and XTS models as well as the Chevrolet Trailblazer and facelifted Traverse. Opel had a huge showing of their entire range as they attempt a comeback, including the sporty OPC models. A few specialty vehicles were also on the floor, such as the VPG MV-1 taxi and the Chevy Camaro Firebreather. And of course there was the classic car section. Photos by Faisal Khatib.
