2015 Porsche Macan
They’ve teased enough, and we’ve waited enough. Yes, Porsche has revealed the Macan crossover and made its official debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto show this week.

Taking the front fascia from its elder brother, the Macan doesn’t disappoint in terms of looks. It certainly does look more sporty than the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK and even the Infiniti EX. The rear of the vehicle however, is unique and could be termed as a love-or-hate affair. But the wide tires which range from 18- to 21-inches do complement the somewhat muscular stance of the Macan. But it must be noted that it stands shorter and is marginally longer than its Q5 counterpart.

As for the variants, Porsche has two. The first being the Macan S, which is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 340 hp. It also features an active all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled, multi-plate clutch and a 7-speed double-clutch transmission. Acceleration figures for a 0-100 kph run stands at an impressive 5.2 seconds. Porsche claim it will do the same in 5 seconds if you opt for the Sport Chrono package. Top speed for the Macan S is 251 kph.

The second variant in the lineup is the Macan Turbo. They claim that it is set to be the most powerful vehicle in the compact SUV segment. In any case, the 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that powers the Turbo produces an impressive 400 hp and furthermore pushes the vehicle from 0-100 kph in a claimed 4.6 seconds. The Turbo, with the Sport Chrono package achieves the same in 4.4 seconds. Top speed for the Macan Turbo stands at 264 kph.

As with any Porsche, the interior is carefully setup. It follows the generic Porsche cockpit, but there happens to be a new steering wheel which is a welcome change from the one on the ongoing Cayenne. The Macan’s red interior is flashy and somehow desirable, but there also happens to be a Piano Black interior package with Alcantara inserts for the seats on the S variant.

  1. Mash..Any idea what would be the price in GCC and when is it expected here?

  2. I had a big deception from Porsche Quebec today when they told me that my Macan Turbo couldn’t come with the red interior as order !

Porsche decided to cut on the production cost by reducing the already narrow option of color interior !

I think this shouldn’t represent the image of Porsche customer experience ! It’s very sad and I will cancel my order tomorrow morning at Porsche Quebec for that reason. I also consider not to buy Porsche anymore because it’s a disrespect to the customers.

I hope Porsche will read this post !

    Regard
