Nissan Sentra gets the Nismo treatment

The Nissan Sentra is not exactly considered fast. But then again, don’t underestimate the power of Nissan’s tuning wing- Nismo, as they have come up with a mean looking, power-packed Nissan Sentra Nismo Concept at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Nismo gives the Sentra a whole new makeover with a buffed up aero-kit. There’s a lower spoiler that sits wide on the front, with similar side-skirts to complement the mean stance. Further complementing it is the new rear spoiler and the accentuated dual exhausts. Then, just so your neighbour knows you own a mean little compact sedan, you get the Nismo badges at the front and rear.

But it’s not just the looks. Underneath, you get the same 1.8-litre DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine. Except this time, they’ve added a turbocharger that bumps up the power from 130 hp to a more interesting 240 hp and 325 Nm of torque. They say that the Sentra Nismo Concept borrows its technology from the Juke RS; everything from the turbocharger, intercooler and the sequential Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG). The engine is matched with a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential to help make sure that the power is directed firmly to the road surface.

The Sentra will ride on 19-inch RAYS aluminium-alloy wheels mounted with Super Sport performance tires and red-painted 370Z derived Brembo brake calipers. Inside, the traditional comfort is taken away, and you get Recaro seats and a leather and alcantara covered steering wheel.

The Nissan Sentra Nismo is still in its concept phase, and we’re not sure if it will ever go into production.
