So we got a 2014 Cadillac ATS 3.6

So we got a 2014 Cadillac ATS 3.6

Cadillac has had many “rebirths” over the past two decades. The STS back in the day heralded a new kind of Cadillac. Now it’s gone. Then there was the first CTS. A great car, and incidentally, the first official test car we ever got, but that final bit of refinement was missing. Now we have the ATS. And this is as close to nailing it as they’ve ever come, if not doing so already.

BMW X3 redesigned for 2015

This is the redesigned 2015 BMW X3. With the unveiling of this new model, BMW’s crossovers are getting more and more generic, not that the old one was a design icon of any sort.

So we got a 2014 Chevrolet Impala

So we got a 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Full-size sedans take a back seat to midsizers and compacts in the UAE, but they’re big business in Saudi Arabia, the largest automotive market in the GCC. And the Americans are especially good at building big sedans. The 2014 Chevrolet Impala is a very important car for General Motors, and the importance they gave it is apparent from the first time you lay your eyes on one.

First drive: 2014 SRT Viper GTS in the UAE

First drive: 2014 SRT Viper GTS in the UAE

Most arm-chair car enthusiasts who’ve never driven legendary American powerhouses such as the constantly-cloned Shelby Cobra or the overblown Vin Diesel-spec Dodge Charger have an idealised view of such cars and lament their demise. However, a car exists today that harks back to those brutal larger-than-life super-muscle cars. It’s built by Chrysler and it’s so out-of-sync with their usual offerings that they gave it a whole separate brand now — the SRT Viper. The Viper itself has a similarly-celebrated reputation, and we found out what it’s like on the streets of Dubai.

C-01 to be sold as Lotus’ first two-wheeled hyperbike

Before you get all excited about the C-01, we want you to know that the new Lotus motorcycle isn’t actually a full-blown Lotus. Instead it’s a joint venture between German racing firm Kodewa and the tuners from Holzer Group. But, yes, as the name indicates, they have been granted license to produce the motorcycles in the renowned sports car makers name.

First drive: 2014 Fiat 500 Cult in Italy

First drive: 2014 Fiat 500 Cult in Italy

If you remember, we had gone to Italy last month to drive a couple of cars, including the Fiat 500L and the Alfa Romeo 4C. We also drove the latest version of the Fiat 500 Cult, a new trim level with a new engine and a manual gearbox, before it was even revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last week. We’d never driven a 500 before that, but damn is it good with the Euro-spec hardware.

So we got a 2014 Dodge Durango R/T

So we got a 2014 Dodge Durango R/T

A few of our car-enthusiast friends, all of whom we’d met via the legendary DriveArabia meets, asked us if we wanted to join them in a trip down to the ubiquitous Rainbow Sheikh’s car museum in Abu Dhabi, an hour-and-a-half drive from the better side of downtown Dubai. We’re generally averse to long drives, but figured we’d join them if we didn’t have to do all the driving. I also dropped Chrysler an email in the off-chance that they could provide a Dodge Durango R/T for the trip, and they confirmed a ride for us within 5 minutes. When the weekend came,

BMW 2-Series Active Tourer revealed at Geneva

BMW 2-Series Active Tourer revealed at Geneva

In their increasing eagerness to become a German Toyota, BMW has officially unveiled their new 2-Series Active Tourer at the Geneva Motor Show last week. The big news is that it is BMW’s first front-wheel-drive car. And oddly enough, after forcing icons like the M3 to take on even-number badges because, as per their marketeers, all coupes and convertibles will get even numbers, they drop this minivan in the same family as the 2-Series coupe that was unveiled just a few months earlier.
