Nissan unveiled the Patrol Desert Edition at the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show. Created specifically for this region, it was apparently designed with the help of former Middle East rally champion, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

The Patrol Desert Edition is based on the Patrol LE, so it gets the 5.6-litre V8 engine, good for 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode and low-range gearing.

The suspension of this model has been specifically tuned to handle desert terrain. A lot of other equipment has been added as well, such as special skid plates for underbody protection, an on-board tyre inflator and ‘bead-lock’ wheels. Special wheel arches, sand ramps and a kinetic rope are also included.

Also standard are cloth upholstery, a navigation system, and forward-facing and reversing cameras.

The Nissan Patrol Desert Edition is already on sale in the UAE and is priced at around Dhs 255,000.
