Genesis G90 officially revealed

2017 Genesis G90

Hyundai, who had recently announced that “Genesis” would be the stand-alone brand for their luxury models, has officially revealed the G90 as its new flagship, replacing the Hyundai Centennial.

The new car incorporates fresh styling cues from the ongoing Hyundai Genesis with the hexagonal chrome grille and pronounced bonnet, while still maintaining the unique Centennial-esque rear end and twisted multi-spoke alloys.

The Genesis G90 will be powered by a “Lambda” 3.8-litre V6 GDi producing 311 hp and 397 Nm of torque and a “Tau” 5.0-litre V8 pumping out 424 hp and 495 Nm of torque. However, there’s also word that a new 370 hp “Lambda” 3.3-litre V6 T-GDi unit featuring a twin-turbo setup will be added to the choices of engines. All variants will be driven by the proprietary “H-TRAC” permanent all-wheel drive system.

Details on the interior are scarce, but it should be cladded in chocolate leather upholstery, with possible multiple-color options and wood inserts. It will also feature a Lexicon sound system with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 9.2-inch rear-seat entertainment system, three-zone “smart” climate system and electrically operated front and rear seats. The car’s wheelbase has also been stretched by 115 mm compared to its predecessor.

More details on the Genesis G90 should be available closer to its GCC launch, which is expected to take place in the first half of 2016. The car will be slated to take on the revered S-Class and 7-Series variants within the region.

  1. although a copy/paste from Mercedes and Ford, overall a very decent design

  2. Wow! Hyundai clearly knows how to pick the best features from the A-list brands and incorporate it efficiently into their own designs.

  3. My second car is a 2013 Genesis Sedan. I am not sure about the after sales service levels.

Unless Hyundai does something about the standards of dealer service, current Genesis customers are not going to recommend the car to anyone!

The car is superb value for money. If only the dealer service levels could be matched.

  4. I hope genesis brings a good quality & sustainable cars at this time and customers service satisfaction.
