Tata rebranding new model with name similar to Zika virus

tata zica

Tata Motors has decided to change the name of their brand new sub-compact, the Zica, after the World Health Organization declared a global health emergency following the current Zika virus outbreak.

While it is currently being showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in India with the Zica nametag, Tata confirmed that the name will be changed in the next few weeks.

The Zika virus is a mosquito-transmitted infection related to dengue, yellow fever and West Nile virus. The virus has been connected to thousands of birth defects in the Americas and is primarily spread through mosquito bites.
