Al-Futtaim Motors, the UAE’s Toyota distributor, has officially launched the fourth-generation Toyota Prius here. Up until now, the most popular hybrid vehicle in the world was not offered in the GCC, although they were sold in other Middle East countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. It has also just been launched in Saudi Arabia.

First shown here at the 13th Dubai International Motor Show in November last year, the Toyota Prius was the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle when initially launched in 1997.

The 2016 Prius retains the 2,700mm wheelbase of the previous Prius, but is 60mm longer overall at 4,540mm, 15mm wider at 1,760mm and 20mm lower. That’s about the size of a Corolla.

The Prius retains its 1.8-litre VVT-i Atkinson-cycle petrol engine. Features include a heads-up display, wireless charging, 7 airbags, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, ESP and regenerative braking.

The 2016 Toyota Prius will be offered in two grades, with the Dynamic model available at Dhs 89,900, and the Iconic model available at Dhs 97,900.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Toyota Prius buyer guide.

  1. Other than the fact this car cost 40% more than equal non-hyped car and that you need to drive it for more than 100K kh to start saving some money…. do you really don’t mind to be seen in it ?

For me I will prefer a Taxi.

    • that is exactly the ignorance of people in this part of the world (and for parts I admittedly include myself here while being here): design and perception comes over what is good for the environment and next generations..

  2. Buyers….stick to the right most lane on roads Please! PLEASE! Begging you!

  3. Finally! The UAE is catching up to environment awareness. Hopefully other automakers will follow suit.

  4. please add this car under car prices and spec / toyota

  5. Mash, Please give this one a review! I’m so keen for it to be given the Drive Arabia critique! 🙂
