2016 Suzuki Vitara released in UAE, KSA & GCC

2016 Suzuki Vitara (2)

Suzuki launched the all-new Vitara in the UAE and few other GCC countries recently. The “Grand” has been dropped from the name, and is a completely different vehicle from the previous model. It is based on the iV-4 concept, which was first exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2013.

Under the hood, it gets a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The motor churns out about 115 hp and 156 Nm of torque, and has a top speed of 180 kph.

The base model is front-wheel drive, while the ALLGRIP four-wheel drive system, a driving system that helps read different terrains, will be available on the higher variants. Two trims are available, a GLX and a GLX+ model, with the top model coming with panoramic roof and polished alloy-wheels.

The Hungarian-built Vitara is also the first compact SUV to earn a 5-star overall rating from 2015 European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) testing program.

Comments

  1. looks like a bubble gum….. epic fail

  2. the rear is absolutely horrible. The famous 4×4 kid became another crossover..and power is laughable compared to the previous 2.5 engine.three reasons for passing over

  3. Beautiful
    thanks for update

  4. Another capable off-roader is gone!

  5. Design seems to have got inspired from Renault Duster…???

  6. Can compete with the Duster if the pricing is right. Looks better built.

  7. Goodbye to another true off-roader! 🙁

  8. It weigh just a little over 1100 kg, 115 hp is more than capable of pushing this car around, the 1.6 engine is happy to rev, reach 6200 rpm & has a nice note to it, handling is great, has a great fuel economy for its class 6 l/100 km.

Being not a true off-roader, if you are one buy a 2.5 ton proper ladder frame SUV, with poor on road handling, horrible fuel economy, high running cost, but if your off-road consist of driving couple of meters away from asphalt, this car will exceed your expectations, the (Still existing) Grand Vitara is heavier, less fuel economic, out dated transmission, boring interior & exterior, less than average handling.

Again if you need a true off-roader, get the Jimny which will asham the biggest most capable SUV.

The price for the highest end is less than 80,000 UAD.

I would say that a great sales potentials, the fact that in the middle East will get 8 trims indicates the forcasted demand

The looks is subjectal, but agree that it’s plain normal from behind but the side profile looks amazing although it is Rang Roverish

  9. AWESOME CAR BUT COULD HAVE BEEN LESS EXPENSIVE

  10. Hypothesis: The designer started from the front, left mid way, another designer took over and designed the rear.

No doubt that the front is a bit ‘comparatively ‘ impressive ( front fascia hints of CRV and RAV)

The rear is all messed up and resembles the Geely.
