2018 Mini Countryman JCW Edition revealed

2018 Mini Countryman JCW Edition revealed

British brand Mini’s SUV offering, the Countryman, has grown up a bit for the 2018 model making it the most non-mini Mini ever. The new Countryman is 175mm longer and 30mm wider than the outgoing model. The model revealed now is the range-topping John Cooper Works Edition which has quite a cracker of an engine under its hood.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces a healthy 227 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is mated with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic to direct power to all the four wheels. Club all these together, and the Countryman JCW Edition will accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.5 seconds and will go onwards to a top speed of 234 kph. To spice up the sport factor, it also comes with sports suspension, Brembo brakes and 18-inch alloys.

The interior of the Countryman is littered with sporty touches which include sport seats, sports steering wheel and the dark grey-finished gear knob.

It is easy to see that Mini hasn’t skimped on safety as the Countryman JCW Edition features stuff like forward collision warning system with autonomous braking, pedestrian warning with auto brake functions, road sign detection, front park assist and more. Some of these features are optional though.

For the exterior, the 2017 Countryman JCW Edition has its own distinguishing appearance with the red accents and badging.

The 2017 Mini Countryman JCW has the Shanghai Motor Show in April on its radar but we wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Expect it to debut in UAE, KSA and GCC markets by early next year.
